BEIJING, November 05, 2026 (DAILYNWZ) — China will maintain anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on n-propanol imports from the United States for another five years, keeping steep trade barriers in place on a chemical used in food packaging and lithium batteries.
The measures take effect on Friday, November 6, following expiry reviews that found Chinese producers could continue to face harm if the duties were removed, according to two notices issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
The anti-dumping duties will remain between 254.4% and 267.4%, while anti-subsidy duties will range from 34.2% to 37.7%, the ministry said.
The decision follows reviews launched in November 2025 to assess whether the existing trade measures should be extended. The ministry concluded that the injury to China’s domestic n-propanol industry would likely continue or re-emerge if the restrictions were lifted.
N-propanol, also known as NPA, is an industrial chemical widely used in manufacturing food packaging. It is also an important component of the electrolyte in lithium batteries used in new energy vehicles.
The extension preserves significant protection for Chinese manufacturers against U.S. competition, with the duties remaining in force for five additional years rather than expiring following the review process.
