Government venue for Gaza plan diplomacy

UNITED NATIONS, September 23, 2026 (DAILYNWZ) — Pakistan and seven other Muslim nations on Tuesday called on Israel to immediately meet its outstanding commitments under the first phase of a plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza, including allowing humanitarian aid to enter the territory without obstruction.

The demand was made in a joint statement by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates after they met on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The ministers said Israel should ensure the immediate, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance and early recovery supplies and facilitate the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure. They also stressed the need to preserve the ceasefire and e

They welcomed recent measures by Britain and broader European efforts targeting Israeli settlement activity, including steps to halt trade with settlements. They called for further action to stop settlement expansion and ensure accountability for settler violence.

The ministers said Gaza remained an integral part of Palestinian territory. They called for implementation of the plan to contribute to the reunification of Gaza with the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to create a “credible and irreversible pathway” towards Palestinian self-determination and an independent state with East Al-Quds as its capital under a two-state solution.

They also called for sustained US engagement to ensure that all parties met their commitments and to overcome obstacles to the road map.

“Tangible progress on the ground will strengthen the credibility of the Board of Peace and the authority of the plan and create deeply needed momentum,” the statement said.

The plan has stalled despite a ceasefire deal reached in October 2025. Trump’s 20-point plan called for humanitarian aid, a Palestinian technocratic administration, Hamas disarming and Israeli forces withdrawing.

The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza has remained outside the territory, while Israel rejected in August a later proposal calling for Hamas to surrender its weapons to a Palestinian governing body.

That phase includes decommissioning, a full Israeli withdrawal, deployment of the International Stabilisation Force, and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza assuming responsibility across the territory. It also calls for early recovery and reconstruction.

The eight ministers urged all parties to fulfil their commitments “in good faith and without delay”.

They also rejected measures aimed at expelling or forcibly displacing Palestinians from their homeland or changing the territorial or demographi
