BEIJING, October 20, 2026 (DAILYNWZ) — China on Tuesday condemned a US order barring Chinese artificial intelligence model DeepSeek from government agency IT systems, saying the move undermines agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders and harms Chinese companies.

China’s commerce ministry said the restrictions disregarded “important consensus” reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, while damaging the interests of Chinese firms and disrupting normal commercial cooperation.

In a statement, the ministry urged Washington to “immediately correct wrong practices” and revoke what it called discriminatory restrictions.

China was “strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposes” the order, the ministry said.

The statement did not provide further details about the US measure or specify which government systems would be affected. It also did not identify the particular agreements between Xi and Trump that Beijing said the restrictions disregarded.
